토양생성인자의 하나인 기후 요소에서 온도 차이로 인하여 다른 그룹과 구별되는 성질을 나타내는 토양 그룹을 지칭한다.

토양생성인자중 한 인자의 차이가 토양의 특성을 결정지을 때 이 인자를 토양연쇄주인자라 하여 명칭 앞에 놓음. 기후연쇄(clemoseguence), 모암연쇄(lithoseguence), 지형연쇄(toposeguence) 등.
